Description

My half of an entry for the Phantom-Fans[link] Winter Tag-Team contest. This is an illustration that goes along with ~NatashaAndrei4ever's beautiful work 'Noel of Irony', here: [link]

I wanted to draw the phantom with his deformity more exposed, to make him look like he's let down his guard, and Kristin to do the same with her sleeping. In 'Noel of Irony' both the Phantom and Kristin find peace and beauty in each other's vulnerability, and a sort of Christmas miracle.

It really is a rather wonderful piece of literature that my dear partner has written. Do go read it!

And please, vote for both of us! I'm but a poor starving artist, and winning stuff always makes me smile. (And draw EVEN MORE cracked fanart. And you want that, don't you? ;) )

Again, as aforementioned in our previous correspondence, this is an incredibly compelling work!
The textures of the cloth, the wooded wall paneling, the glazed iced windows revealing the frigid, harsh snow pounding outside, even the soft glint and tone lighting of the fire in the stove is illuminated on the clothes!
The border framing the focal point of the picture only deepens the rich beauty of the art piece, and one can perceive the intricate details of the silhouettes of Erik above, and Kristin below; the lush green satin drapes add a Victorian elegant nuance to the frame as well, even the touch of having the hem of Kristin's dress drape lightly over an edge is a poignant nuance.
The angelic, puerile beauty you endowed this depiction of Kristin as a small child is breath taking to say the least, and has a Raphaelite-esque or Michaelangelo-esque aura and tone to her innocence and sweetness of nature. (The volume and follicle texture of her flaxen locks are impressive!)
With Erik, you truly have done such justice to his deformity, yet you depicted him with such a raw humanity and steadily stoic dignity.
